Tigers Experience at The POP UP - Srifort Complex

POP Culture ,POP Tates ,POP Champagne ,POP Music,POP Charts

and now .......................... "THE POP UP"

at The Asiad Village Restaurant Complex behind the Sri Fort Auditorium.

‘Keep it short and sweet’, words to live by, especially when working on a full-fledged restaurant, a pop-up concept comprising two of the cities’ most beloved chefs, a passionate restaurateur, an unimaginably wide spectrum of engaging live entertainment and food that’s, simply, to die for!
‘The Pop Up’ is a venture curated by Chef Julia Desa, and Chef Jatin Mallick, of the capital’s beloved Tres and Restaurateur and food aficionado Vidur Parashar.

The concept behind the ‘The Pop Up’ (as its been fondly named), while being meticulously thought out, is a very simple one – it’s innovative, it’s quirky, it’s fun, it’s fleeting – a much required quick fix for the foodies of the city. So it wouldn’t come as any surprise that it’s only going to be around for 90 days!

The menu presents a compilation of signature dishes that’s been specifically created for ‘The Pop Up’. Each dish has its very own signature creative edge while staying true to familiar flavors… Bacon, cheese and mushroom D’ohnut Burgers with Maple Glazed Bacon Sprinkles… Breakfast Burritos… Pulled Pork Flatbread… Seared Tuna with Mooli Salsa…

Four Foodies decide on the group lets meet for Kofi ... after much contemplation of where to have coffee we narrow down to the idea of trying something new .. Time Decided 6.30 - as that is after office and is the peak hour for hunger .. honestly it is .. every day at 6.30 my stomach navigates me to the kitchen and steal anything thats tasty and edible .

Well anyways one of the foodies says lest meet at The POP UP .. new in town , dying to try it and be it . 6.30 we meet at The POP UP .. three arrive safe and sound one foodie from mumbai gets lost .. her auto man takes all around sri fort to make some money from the mumbai wali .. anyways we rescue her and off we go popping . Tonic bar it used to be Shady dingy smelly etc etc , i have just seen it never had the guts to go in there .. they have transformed the whole place with an outdoor and an nicely done up indoor section ... good buzz .

Jatin and Julia mam

Chef Jatin Malik Says WE’VE POPPED UP!!!

"Welcome to The Pop Up!  A first of its kind venture in Delhi, we’re here for 90 days in all!  We have many delicious things on the menu for you to sample, and we recommend that you try some of our delicacies straight from the Josper grill (from our Prosper with the Josper section), that we have imported from Spain, just to tingle your taste buds a little!  Since we’re here for a limited time, want to have fun, and we want YOU to have fun!  Hence, we don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we DO take our food seriously!  So sit, eat, drink, draw on our walls, stand up and sing a little song, do a little dance… we hope you enjoy! "

I take charge of the ordering .. the waiting staff is familiar somehow and they are super friendly ..  We ordered -
Baked garlic and thyme brie, with a fig ketchup and crisped flatbread
* Maple, kasundi mustard, chili chicken strips dusted with rice flour
Bacon, cheese and mushroom Doh’nut burger, topped with crisped shards of bacon
Slow braised Chilean pork belly with root mash, sautéed greens and a reduced ginger soy sauce
Juju spice marinated young chicken, khurchan potatoes, wilted greens, with a pan jus

Bas for a 6.30 binge i think this was enuf for four people :)

Doh Nut Burger
The most popular dish covered by all bloggers and foodies visiting the pop up .. actually a bit small for an appetite like mine cud have easily eaten two more alone -not for the size but for the amazing marriage of a donut with bacon mushroom ..... and topped with cheese . Saala bacon ke liye kuch bhee karega :)

Kasundi Chicken Strips
Ask my photographer friend Maneck Khanna .. he drooled on this dish and ate the veggies also , which he very seldom looks at also.... heheheheheh. Dont know how many foodies are familiar with Kasundi - mustard sauce from the Kolkatta land .. works better than the wasabi for sure for curing colds lol .. the Bengali are so proud of their mustard sauce .... there used to be a brand called army navy earlier sold only in Calcutta .. any one finds it send me a jar please .. this works wonderfully well with chicken strips .

Brie with Garlic
Mind Blown away .. I love Cheese and I love stinky cheese even more ... and even more if my cheese has a garlic flavour ....  never have had a full portion of cheese like this .. it was divine .

Ju Ju Chicken
Whats Ju Ju sauce -well well its Julias secret recipe of a 24 hr mairanted chicken . And trust me when Julia mam makes chicken she means business ... amazing flavors .

Chilean Pork Belly
Wah ustadd wah ...... Kya pork belly thee ..... served on a bed of jasmine rice with reduced ginger soy Jus ... the tinge of the ginger to the belly was admirable .

Tigers Overall Experience : Loved the concept , very reasonably priced (mind you two top class chefs ) , where would you get to see Art on plate being created by the gurus of the food industry besides their own restaurants ... it has proven a point .. take the man out of his comfort zone to see how good does his dish still Taste . 90 is just perfect for the POP up .. amazing recipes , great combination of ingredients , a good twist to the Indian palate . A visit worth it . And an honor to see the Top Chefs Jatin and Julias creations .
Looking forward to Delhi getting more POp Ups . This one is on till End March .. make a dash for it .

Please note : The Photographs are courtesy Shri Maneck Khanna (Hitler) The Fellow foodies were Priti Chandra and Mona Arthur . The Chefs were too embarrassed charging us money for the binge (Happens... apun kee personality hee kuch aisee hai ) hence we left a small big tip for the team equivalent to the assumed total of the bill hehehehehehehe wonder why i wrote this . heheheheh
